Title: Director of Family and Community Engagement
Salary: $24,000/yr
Status: part-time; 20 hrs/wk
FSLA: Non-exempt, salary
Reports to: Pastor
Directly Supervises: Nursery and Childcare Staff
Required Hours: 1pm Staff Meeting on Mondays, 9am-12pm Sunday Morning, remaining hours flexible
Effective: January 1, 2025

Job Summary: The Director of Family and Community Engagement will oversee and develop ministries of Lakewood United Methodist Church that support the spiritual growth and flourishing of families, especially families with children, and will continue to establish relationships between the church and the surrounding city of Lakewood and Jefferson Country to develop community partnerships and collaborative work to benefit not only the church but the neighborhood surrounding the church.

Essential Functions: 
* Facilitate children and youth connection to the worship life of the church
* Develop and oversee a children’s sunday school program
* Develop and oversee child and vulnerable adult protection policy of the church
* Supervise nursery and childcare staff
* Develop ministry and connections between the church and families with children
* Develop ministry and connections between the church and surrounding community and city of Lakewood
* Oversee a program budget for Family and Community Engagement

Job Requirements:
- Ability to lift at least 25 pounds unassisted
- Ability to climb stairs
- Computer literacy with basic software: Excel, Word (or Numbers and Pages), and Email
- Comfort and ability to engage with children and families with children including infants

Core Competencies:
- Integration: perceives and connects different areas of ministry to drive development of programming for families; integrates different generations (Baby Boomer, Millenial, Gen X, etc.) in consideration of programming
- Creativity: thinks outside of the box in approaches, programs, and communication efforts, innovates in work of ministry, reimagines traditional approaches in ministry to apply to present day needs
- Initiative: unafraid to take calculated risks, capable of working with minimal supervision, makes judgment calls within scope of authority
- Inclusion: does not differentiate between ethnicity, economic demographics, sexual orientation, gender, or citizenship in consideration of ministry approaches or outreach efforts
- Collaboration: works with different staff and stakeholders to accomplish goals, connects with and collaborates with community partners within and outside of the church
- Relationships: builds relationships with community partners and stakeholders within the church and outside of the church, maintains relationships with regular engagement (coffee, attending community meetings, etc.), actively networking on behalf of the church
- Public-Speaking: comfort and skill with speaking in front of people either at the church or in other contexts
- Stewardship: oversight and responsibility for program minsitry budget, refraining from overspending, creating spending projections for the year
- United Methodism: understanding of United Methodist Polity and Doctrine, ability to navigate United Methodist connectional structure to build relationships across the Mountain Sky Annual Conference
