Title: Childcare Provider

Pay: $23/hr

Required schedule: Every Sunday, 9:30am-11:30am. (This will change as childcare needs evolve at the church, but those required changes will be communicatd in advance—there might be times where we need additional time after 11am for a church event, for instance)

Reports to: Ministry Coordinator/Pastor

Essential Functions:

  • Providing child care for children ranging from infant age to Kindergarten before and during worship.

  • Maintaining a protective environment for children in their care, and ensuring that they are released into the care of the appropriate caregiver.

  • When necessary, changing diapers if parents have provided them.

Core Competencies:

  • Judgment: Know when a child needs to be given back to their parents earlier than normal, what is safe for a child based on their developmental needs

  • Joy: Be a model of joy for children that encourages them to feel safe with the childcare provider, help cultivate the inherent joy of children when they are in the childcare provider’s care

  • Cleanliness: As much as possible, keep the area children are in organized and clean, and promote good hygeine to prevent the spread of illness

  • Safe: Care about children while caring for them, being a safe person for them to trust being around. Stay vigilant when caring for children so they remain safe. Follow all established protocals directed by the church related to the safety of children.

  • Playfulness: Be playful with and encourage the play of children with other children, which is a primary way that they learn.

  • Adaptable: Demonstrate the ability to adapt communication, playfulness, and approaches based on the differences between the children being cared for.

  • Creative: Be creative in approaches for play, learning, and care.
