Title: Associate Director of Music
Salary: $12,000-$15,000
Status: part-time; ~10 hours a week
FLSA: non-exempt
Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Reports to: Director of Worship and Music
Effective: January 27, 2025
Job Summary: The Associate Director of Music provides keyboard (piano and organ) support to music in worship, collaborates with the Director of Worship and Music and the Pastor to plan worship, supports ensemble rehearsals when a keyboard is needed, and supports congregational singing in worship.
Essential Functions:
Playing piano and organ to support music and congregational singing in worship.
Supporting rehearsal from piano/organ of music ensembles
Collaborating with other staff to assist in worship planning
Providing incidental music in worship from piano and/or organ including but not limited to Preludes, Postludes, and music that underscores the movement of the liturgy.
Overseeing ongoing maintenance of Piano in Organ in consultation with Director of Music and Worship
Minimum Required Qualifications:
A bachelors degree in a music-related field
Excellence in piano and organ playing
A general understanding of worship practices, especially in the United Methodist Church
Physical Requirements:
Ability to drive a vehicle
Ability to sit and rise, unassisted, from an organ console that has pedals
Ability to play pedals competently with feet
